Website for the New Women's Health and Wellness Program for 2011! The Women’s Health and Wellness Program is a year-long program in which the participants will attain a positive attitude towards their health and learn the key elements that will lead to modification of health lifestyle. 2011 is the pilot year. The participants will feel a strong sense of satisfaction as well as the empowerment to continue to modify their habits and improve their overall health.
The program includes a monthly stipend to buy healthy food, free clinic visits, (including primary care, herbal medicine, acupuncture, etc.,) an evaluation of health and lifestyle, assistance making a wellness plan and setting long and short term goals, blood work every 6 months if in healthy range and every 3 months if abnormal, monthly health education sessions, weekly phone coaching, an initial four-week group class on nutrition culminating in a group trip to the grocery store and farmers’ market to talk about shopping for healthy foods, a private nutrition consultation with our nutritionist, a 6 week mind-body medicine class lead by our NP, an online class in the anti-inflammatory diet, opportunity to take part in a weekly walking group, opportunity to take part in a weekly health education group focusing on nutrition, a monthly yoga class, and a gardening event. In addition to these aspects of the program, the group may design their own events such as wellness nights with NADA ear acupuncture, potlucks at the garden, etc.
